"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is an upcoming American superhero film directed by David F. Sandberg and produced by New Line Cinema. It is the sequel to the 2019 film "Shazam!" and the eleventh installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The movie follows the story of Billy Batson, a teenager who can transform into an adult superhero named Shazam by uttering the word "Shazam!" In this sequel, Billy (played by Asher Angel) and his foster brother Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer) are facing new challenges and villains as they continue to learn how to use their powers and navigate their superhero identities.
The movie features an ensemble cast including Zachary Levi as Shazam, Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu as the villains Hespera and Kalypso, respectively, as well as the return of other cast members from the first film.
The plot details of the film have been kept under wraps, but it has been teased that the film will feature more of the magical world of the Shazam mythos, including new mystical powers and mythological creatures. The movie is expected to deliver the same blend of humor, heart, and action that made the first "Shazam!" film a success.
"Shazam! Fury of the Gods" is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.
